Cycling and Motoring Notes.
From the Dunlop Rubber Company of Australasia for the week ending April 18th, J 1914. Among the Australasian cycling dub intense , - interest is centring in the Dunlop 100 miles relay competition, which closes on the rjOth inst, A cablegram received last week from Christchuroh by. the Dunlop Rubber Company conveyed the intelligence flint the South Canterbury Cycling Club (N.Z.) had broken the record of 4h™ 28 mine 13 3-5 sec standing for many woeke to the credit of the Coburg Cycling Club (Vic), the> new figures being Ihrs 26mins faces- a really fine performance, and «vhieh places the South Canterbury Club at the top of the list, Coburg falling back into second place and the North Suburban Club, Perth OV.A.) third. It appears, however, that the intermediate time of C. J. Senior (Perth*) who covered his section of ten miles in 25min« ITsecs remains unbeaten. Before the end of the month we may expect that numerous attempts will be made to secure the £100 first prize. The Coburg Club will surely make an attempt to regain tho lost honour, and the time is far from being prohibitive. In fact there are rumours that a Melbourne Club registered some startlingly fast times m a couple of training runs, two or three of I Uio relays being cut out in 24mins odd, one being under the even timr>. The aggregate figures would be almost, certain to secure the team the coveted prize. Neither of the trials were officially timed, but another eft'ori will be made at an early date, when, tv-on good weather, the Club i~ confident of beating the time r.vnn!"d by the New ZcalamTers.
