MKETING OF COUNCILLORS

Levin Borough Council held its ordinary bi-monthly meeting last, night, Mr B. R. Gardener (Mayor) in the chair. The councillors persent were Messrs E. 8. Lancaster, 11. B. France, l\. Prouse, A. Dempsey, D. 8. Mackenzie, C Blenkhorn, A. E. Haswell, F. E. Parker.

An apology was received for the absence of Councillor Mathoson.

An application by Mr \\. '-1 , . Smith for leave to surrender a lease in Devon street/ was refused as the Council considered that to allow the surrender of a lease would establish a bad precedent.

Councillor BlenkEorn said that the road grader did not seem to get a fair chance on the roads to do its work satisfactorily. . Councillor Lancaster said that, the difficulty in connection with ihe grader 'was that.it could not be geared down sufficiently. That was the reason why they wanted :i new grader. The motion was carried.
