Levin horse Sale.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company held a very successful horse sale m their Levin yards yesterday (Friday). The attendance was very good, though towards'the close of the sale it dwindled away. bidding was brisk at ihe beginning, but in the later stages it- occasionally was very slow.. In these cases the ■ •ause was ioo high a reserve fix'd by the vendors, or that the animal showed uo breeding. Only ■seven or eight auimals out of an •ntry of close ort 80 were passed
in The others were sold at satisfactory prices. Light horses so!(i frsiin vr - f.i .■• ; cs from £ ; "> Os to £8, hunters to £17 ss, light draughts £11 to £12, heavier £18 to £20, heavy to £31, cobs £8 to £10. Had the snle been held in a larger yard it would have been more satisfactory. The yard was too small, and the ground covered with fairly large stones; consequently it was impossible to show the animals' actions to the best advantage.
