UPPER HUTT FATALITY. W<2Hjngton, This Day. An inquest on the victims of the Upper Hutt explosion was resumed to-day. Among the witnesses who gave evidence was Herbert Pratt, a partner in the firm of Benge and Pratt, whose store was destroyed. He stated that the firm stocked blasting powder, gel" ignite, sporting cartridges, flasks of black powder, and detonators. Thev never had in stock more than one case of gelignite. On the day of the fire there were two pounds of blasting powder in the store, bnf there was no gelignite that he knew about and he did not think there could have been any without his knowledge. The firm purchased its last case of gelignite on 6th February.
