Special Easter services were held in Levin and Ohau on Sunday. S. Mary's Church, Levin, was very prettily decorated by the following: Mesdames Brown, Duckworth, Gardener, L. Hitchings, Matthews, Stealey and Sinckwell: Misses Eyes, Gardener, llitchiugs, Malcolm (2; and Snell. Mr L. liitchings and the Rev. 11. T. Stealey. The Easter Festival commenced with a celebration of the lloly Communion at 8 o'clock. r lho second celebration was of a choral nature, when the church was practically full. Throughout the day there'were only S2 communicants ; the inclement stale of the weather keeping mauy away from the earlv service:. The Vicar pmiehed from the text 1 Cor. XV. 20, '\Yow is Christ risen from th<-' dead and becomv the li.rst fruits of them that slept." At Evensong appropriate lessons were read and psalms and hymns sung. The congregation was fair. Tho Vicar took as his text S. John XK 20': "Peace be unto you." The chancel of S. Tolin the Baptist's Church. Ohau, had also been decorated so as to be in keeping with iho festival. Owing to the bad st;i.te of the weather there was only a small congregaiton in the afternoon. The parishioners in Ohau will make their Easier Communion next Sunday morning. Should the weather be favourable, there will undoubtedly be a good congregation from Ohau and the surrounding districts.
