(Special to The Chronicle.) To-day we liavo recovered our lost laurels. Owing to a wet morning no play was possible until after lunch. Punctually at l.'-iO Young and Butterworth opened our innings, Tremewan having won the toss. Both batsmen played confidently, and tho score mounted steadily, 50 being up after three-quarters of an hour's play, and 100 just over the hour. After a partnership yielding l-i2, Butterworth was caught, having played a cautious 57. Barber did not stay long, and Tremewan joined,, Young, who was quickly approaching his century. However, he had the misfortune to be caught on the boundary when 98, after playing a chanceless innings, in-"* eluding twelve 4s and a 6.
