THE SOCIALISTIC DEBATE

(To the Editor). Sir,- "Anti-lied Flag" lias given his reply to my recent effusion, but lias made 110 attempt to batik up the statements of his which I challenged. Wo evidently agree thai if a man "'shells out for his country's good it is for the public." But these are rare occasions and it is quite probable that those who give the biggest amount take it from the public first, so it really beltings to tlio public. i have no doubt but what it would do "Antilicd Flag'' good to see the nest of tyrants who keep the workers' nose on the grindstone. _ Not a very difficult matter for those who are willing to see. "Anti-Bed Flag says that it is a man's own fault if a fellow's nose is on the grindstone. Does he not know tliat no man can choose his own employment any more than lie can dictate the wages he shall receive. The worker must submit to circumstances and environment at all times. Does he think that a man would keop his nose down _ if he knew where to better himself. And as for lots of fat billets ahead, on enquiry I find iliey are all tilled. But, my dear "Anti-Bed Flag,"' you did not need <o state that there was one gram of truth in vou, and 1 found it. The public will find your truthfulness quick enough. Yours, etc., NEW ZEAtANDEB. Levin, April Bth, 1014. »—n—fMWMIH II ■!
