Onions are coming to hand in fair quantities, but the market is inclined to be weak. Eggs (fresh) are very scarce, and prices are firm. Dressed pork continues in good demand. Wheat and oats. —Both lines continue hrm at laterates, and the Southern quotations have a rising tendency. Prime •Algerians are distinctly firmer, and not many lines of this quality are obtainable. There is no change in the cocksfoot market which remains very firm at late rates. A considerable quantity of chaff has arrived in fulfilment of past orders, and business meantime is somewhat restricted. Fairly large shipments of dessert and cooking apples are arriving from Motueka, and the market has a slackening tendency. Quinces are in fair demand at satisfactory rates. Winter Cole and other choice dessert pears are (readily bought up. There is also a good enquiry for cooking varieties. There is no change to report with tomatoes. Lettuce and beans realise bedrock prices. All root vegetables meet with ready sale. Cabbages .and cauliflowers meet keen competition at higher rates.
