The club appointed Mr J. Hopkins, who so successfully ran the last one, to organise the next one. CENTRAL OTAGO WET. Dunedin, This Day. Reports from Central Otago indicate that beneficial rains, havo fallen, but advices from Tapanui state that torrential rams.are being there, and that floods arc threatened. NEW UNIVERSITY GROUND. Auckland, This Day. As the result of a conference between the Minister of Education and the University Council, a recommendation will be made to Cabinet that the whole area of the Government House and grounds, and the metropolitan ground adjoining, be utilised for the ; new university and college buildings, and that a new residence be erected for the Governor. For the latter purpose one suggestion is to acquire the Kilbryde property at Parnell recently purchased by the Harbour Board"for £10,000, or another property in the Mount Eden district.

Auckland, This Day. William Eiistace, aged 58, committed suicide at Otahuhu by cutting his throat with a razor. Recently he started business on his own account at Papatoetoe. He leaves a widow and five children. SHIPMASTERS AND MINISTER. Auckland, This Day. The Shipmasters' Committoo which has been agitating for the orection of a lighthouse on Three Kings resolved to disband in consequence of the attitude of the Minister of Marine in failing to keep what was regarded a promise to light this danger »<> navigation.
