The event of the day in Shannon was the marriage on Monday of Miss Elspeth Mary McDonald', of Moutoa, to Mr Thomas H. Davey. M(-J)idiaid. l'lie church was prettily decorated for the occasion. The bride was attired in n handsome costume of white crepe de chine, trimmed with heavy silk lace, with bridal veil and wreath, the gift of her sister, Mrs Arnold of Sydney. The bridesmaid wore a dress of grey silk crepe, trimmed with black, with hat to match. The bride and bridesmaid each carried beautiful bouquets, gifts of Miss Newell. Miss 0. Laurvig officiated at the organ and played Mendelssohn's wedding march. The reception was attended by about 40 guests. The Rev, J. A. Melvenzie proposed the health of the bride and bridegroom, and referred to the seriousness of marriage. There was a great display of wedding presents, many of them costly one a hanclsorne marble clock, and a beautiful jardiniere. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a wrist watch, and the bride's rift to the bridegroom was a hand some scarf pin, while the bridesmaid received a handsome silver manicure set. The newly-wedd-
(1 pair left for Palmerston ■S'orth in a motor cur. They intend spending the honeymoon in the •'outh Island.
