Levin Borough Council.
The fortnightly meeting of the Borough Council was held in the Council Chambers last night. Present: The Mayor (Air B. It. Gardener), and Councillors „E. S. Lancaster, H. 13. France, 11. Prouse, A. E. Haswell, F. E.' Parker, A. Deuipsey, I). \Y. Matheson, and 1). S. Mackenzie. Councillor jilenkhorn wrote asking for leave of absence. It was granted. A report from Mr A. iiurrell, on the gasworks, was received. It showed a satisfactory state of affairs. The report, will be dealt with more fully in a future issue of The Chronicle. Councillors Prouso and Mat lieson were appointed to sign 'lie leases of four sections in the municipal reserves, Queen-street ,to citizens who have lately acquired them at auction. The mortuary chapel at the cemetery was reported to be in need ot painting, and it was resolved that the matter be attended to . The reserves committee is to inquire into the matter of improving the sanitary arrangements on t lie Levin Recreation Reserve, and 1. port to the Council.
The Council's properly in Bartholomew road was let to Mr >T. T. 0;iIc for a period of twelve tn<>lll hlit ;i ront;il of 12s 6d per week, rent to be j)aid monthly, on tlio motion of Councillor Prouse seconded by t'r.iincillor Lancaster.
