EVENTS IN SHANNON,* (By our Resident ' r-H? MIBANUI gun CLUIi.» The Miranui Gun Ciub # held its annual meeting ill the Druids Hall on Friday night. The vicepresident (Mr J. W. Murray) occupied the chair, and therfc w<is a good attendance of members. Mr Murray and Mr Warrington were appointed auditors to prepare a balance-sheet.. Mr Sherman proposed, and Mr Anderson seconded, "'That the operations of the club be removed to Shannon during the coining season/' The motion was agreed to The election of officers resulted: Secretary and treasurer, Mr E. Warrington : president, Mr Alfred Seifert; vico-prcsidonts, Messrs It. H. Webb, L. Seifert, W. H. Gunning, S. W. Carter, M. Moynihan, J. Davies, (x. Hook, H. Hook, A. .Tudd, J. W. Murray, Hall and -Tones, L. Jenkins,. T. Gibson, Eargher, I. P.ichardson, Biomlev, J. Curran, Bilderbeek, E. Ex all, J. Tilling, Boultbee, -T. Warrington and J. Caiman; management committee, Messrs Sherman, E Buckman, Sands, Warrington, Pederson, T. Dalziell, -T. Lenehan, Butterworth and •T. Curran; handioappers, Messrs ! Slierman and P. Olsen.

It was resolved that the entrance fees be 5s- the same as last year. U was resolved that the committee hold their first meeting on Kridav next, at the Albion Hotel. Mr Mur ray was elected chairman of committee meetings in Uu- absence of the president. The following toasts were duly honoured "The King," proposed by the chairman ; 'The Miranui Gun Club," proposed by Mr S. W. Carter and coupled with the names of Messrs E. Warrington, and Keys; "The .Donors of Trophies," proposed by Mr Keys, coupled with the name of Mr J. W. Murray; "Sporting Clubs,' oroposed by Mr Viekers, coupled with the names of Messrs Pope, Caiman and F. King; "The Shannon Football Club," proposed by M; 13. Pope; "The Ladies," proposed by Mr J. Curran; "The Rising Generation," proposed by Mr Wiggins, coupled wifh the namo of Mr Sherman; "The Secretary, Ti-easurer and Referee,"' proposed b\ Die chairman ,who made kindly reference to Mr E. J. King, and responded to by Mr Warrington. "Absent Friends," proposed by Mr Viekers, coupled with the names of Messrs J. liilminster and Harris; "The* proposed by -Mi- Bovis, and coupled with the names of Messrs Tilling and Exall; "The Founders of the Club," proposed by Mr Warrington. Songs were given by Messrs Knyvott, Hall, Hayes, J. Curran, H. Logan, J. Bovis, A. Judd, Kirkland, Davics, H. lloolc, Keri, Keys; recitations by Mr J. Tilling and Mr MeKinlev. The proceedings concluded by the presentation of the following trophies, handed to the recipients by the chairman : Silver sweets dish, preented by Mr T. Thompson, won by Mr Kilminster; champion gold medal, given by the club, won by Mr Warrington: sovereign case, given by Mr A.-.Tudd, won by Mr •I. Bntterworth.

Tlie Druids had tlieir usual meeting on Thursday night, Bro. Tilling, A.D., presiding, and one new member was initiated. The lodge has accepted an invitation from the Levin Druids to take a trip to Levin on April Bth and visit the Horowlvenua Lodge. Five of the officers of uie Shannon •Lodge visited Oroua Lodge, Palmerstoil North, on Monday last. The party consisted of P.D.P 33r0. Murrav, P.S. Bro Gardiner, P.A.'s Hi •os. Lind, Tippler and Tilling. The Grand President gave an address of welcome, and the party wore entertained to a smoke concert at D-.istins.

Mr Lambert is still receiving encouraging reports of the success of his blight, specific. Mr-Wedge, a farmer in Taieri, lias recently informed him that his crop, which had been treated by the specific, was unseat lied, while all the surrounding crops were effected by the blight. Upwards of £2000 worth of tho specific has been sold in Australia during last season. The contractors for the additions to the public school have already made a start with their work.
