I hi the Salvation Army Sunday School loom Last evening a. dainty lea was arranged by the soldiers ol the local corps in honour of llu* departing oih'cers, Knsign Smith and Captain Birks. Some forty members of the corps were present at this gathering, which was presided over by Brigadier Carniichael, the divisional commander, ironi Wellington. A pleasant chatty hour was spent, after which the brigadier called on several representative speakers who spoke (if the good work accomplishd by the officers during their term here. Justice was done to the good things provided, and then an adjournment was made to the senior hall, where an instructive lecture was given by ilie brigadier on "Queensland." Tin's interesting lecture, with its humorous sketches, was enjoyed by iho large congregation which had assembled on this occasion. Prior to the closing of the meeting, the brigadier called on the departing officers, who look this opoprtunity of bidding farewell to tho many friends, to whom they had endeared themselves by their consistent lives and faithful sr-m'ce. A. hearty vote of thanks was proposed, seconded and carried to Brigadier Carmiclinel, and the meeting was brought to a close by the singing of (he well-known hymn "(xod.be "Wiih Yon till TTe Meet A-a in."
