Levin Chamber of Commerce.
The Levin Chamber ot Commerce met in the Borough offices last evening. Present': Messrs E. H. Lancaster (chairman), 1). Smart, H. Newport, li. Ha swell, — Tyke, J. llobertsou M.1 , ., W. Heslop and A. Dempsey. Mr A. Dempsey acted as secretary in the unavoidable absence of Mr A .Grover who is indisposed. Mr Lancaster mentioned the visit of the engineer Mr i'ellow re the rural telephone scheme, and a hearty vote o£ thanks was accorded to Mr D. Smart for attending tho engineer during his visit and explaining the various routes. Mr Lancaster brought forward a largely signed petition asking the Government for a grant oi £500 or more for improvements tu the Deaeh road. Mr ltobertson suggested thai, (he petition be- dnm-n up alresh and the County Council be to make application lor the amouni He would present the petition to !he Minister of Public Works. This was agreed co. Mr D. Smart moved that the secretary be asked n .\li- .1. R.
