I WAIKANAE STOCK SALE. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report: We held our monthly sale at Waikanae on Tuesday, when we yarded some 2200 sheep and 100 head of cattle. Buyers were present in large numbers, and included purchasers from Palmerston, Levin, Ohau, Mannkau, Masterton, and Pahautanui. Bidding on all lines throughout was very animated, and competition (especially on lines of breeding ewes) was particularly keen. With the exception of two small pens of cattle a total clearance,, of all lots was effected under the hammer at lighly satisfactory prices. The following were some of the principal sales : —On account H. 11. Klder, 4 and 5-year old ewes, 15s vd, IGs, 16s Id; shorn lambs• (small), 7s Bd, 7s 7d; Romney tarns, 81 gns and 4 gns. JDaJgetv and Company, Ltd., Wellington, have just received cabled information from their London office, as follows:—"The wool sales have opened, and the

attendance of buyers is large. Competition is very animated. American buyers are operating. As compared with last sales' closing rates, there is an advance on Merinos "generally of 5 per cent, to 71 per cent., fine crossbreds 71 per cent advance, and on medium and coarse crossbreds 10 per cent, advance."
