Our Produce at Home

W. Weddol and Co. send us their weekly market report, dated London, January 9th, as follows :— Butter—Thero is little alteration to record in the market this week. The demand continues steady, and prices are practically unchanged, except for New Zealand, which has eased off to the extent of Iβ to 2s per cwt. It is many years since reserved stocks in January have been so low as at present, and notwithstanding the large arrivals of Australasian this week, consisting of (37,374 boxes, there is very little butter being put into the cold stores. The trade in guneral is "now well on to Australasian butter, and practically the whole of the present buying is for immediate consumption, very little speculation being indulged in. Cables advise that there is little or no change in the weather conditions prevailing in Australia, rain still being in many districts nocded. The Continental demand for New Zealand and Australian butter continues, and will doubtless expand as tho make on the Continent decreases. Now Zealand butter hera is making from 118s to 120s per cwt, both for salted and uusaltcd, with an occasional premium of Is for exceptional quality of the latter description. Australian is quoted at 112s to 114s for salted, and 112s up to 115s for unsalted, the latter prices being obtainable only for a few spocially fine Victorian factories. Thero is relatively a better demand for secondary descriptions of both New Zealand and Australian at prices ranging from 106s up to 110s per cwt, The market for Continental buttor has been very Blow, and notwithstanding a drop of 2s to 3s per cwt for Danish, arrivals are not cleared. The Copotikagen official quotation has been reduced 3 kr. and now stands 108 kr. Argentine butters, still play a very important part on this market owing to the restricted shipments; prices are quoted at 112s. cwt. for salted, and 112s. up to 114s for unsalted. Cheese,—This market remains lirm and prices have a hardening tendency Canadian white is quoted at 67s to 08s, and coloured at as high as 70s per cwt. New Zealand is selling freely at G(Js. for white and 67s to GBs for coloured. The Tokomaru, from New Zealand, carries 10,318 crates.
