There is a huge attendance, and the wicket is in lirst-class condition. Laver, McGregor, Sims, Trumper, Kcnzie, Hansford, Sims, Trumper and Waddy. Blamires captained the home team, and Sims the visitors. Hawke's Bay won the toss, and Board and Creed open d to the bowling of Annstrong and Laver. Board sent Armstrong's first ball to leg for four, and live resulted from Laver's first over. After half an hour's play the score stood at 85 for no wickets, made chiefly off Laver.
