Trunks full of Sand
♦ (Sydney Sun. London, January 24. • Cresus Bosanquet, an Italian music hall manager, obtained a number of trunks, filled them with sand, and pasted on them labels for different destinations. A eonfederate made declarations that the baggage containeu valuable theatrical property. Several railway employees were in the conspiracy, am. the^removed the trunks'at juftcttbuP affixing* false duplicate numbers corresponding with the receipts held by the principal. The Irunks were reported lost and compensation claimed. By the time the fraud was discovered the railway authorities had paid indemnities amounting to .£BO,OOO.
