Rotorua, This Day. The Premier received a deputation urging the construction of a railway connection between Rotorua and Paengaroa, to iink ap the East Coast line with the present system. The Hon. Mr Masse y said that he could make no < definite statement until lie had : personally inspected the district. He indicated that the line should bo constructed by private enterprise. J MARTON SHOW. 1 Marton, This Day. The second annual show of tliu Marton A. and P. Association held yesterday, was a great success. There was a large attendance and the stock was particularly good. Horses are a prominent feature, and the competitions were keenly contested. The Governor was accorded a civic reception and entertained at luncheon at the show grounds. He expressed himself as highly delighted with the prosperous and fertile Rangitikei district and the splendid exhibits at the show. THE C ALIFORNI AN TOUR. Wellington, This Day. In his official report to the New Zealand Rugby CJnion on the recent Californian tour. Mason, manager of the team, states that up to the last match of the tour there was a deficit of about .£SOO, but tlie- final match drew a big gate, the proceeds being estimated at £'1240. He was led to understand that the tour had resulted in a profit of £ ; 500. The visit of the team to America had "been most successful from all points of view.

The Hon. W. Scott, Premier of Saskatchewan, Canada, arrived by the Makura. He leaves tomorrow for Ilotorua, and travels thence through New Zealand and takes the steamer from Bluff for Hobart.
