EVENTS IN SHANNON
(Chronicled by our Resident
Representative)
- Bazaar in aid of tlie *iunds of the Ven Bede's Vicarage \vill be held in the Druids' Hall th:s week. A novel feature of tl/L bazaar will be the costumes of the fair stall-holders, all of whom will be dressed in Dreadnought costumes. The ladies of the Ven Bede's txuilii have been doing their best to make the bazaar a greater success than any previous one, and their efforts should be rewarded by a large attendance of the public. The news of the death of Mrs Batchelor came as a sad blow to her many friends in Shannon. Mrs Batchelor was a very earnest worker in the Ladies' Guild of the Ven Bede's Church during her residence here. Many of her Shannon friends went to Palmerston North to attend her funeral, which took place on Monday afternoon. . There was a mistake in the account of the Methodist Sunday School picnic. The superintendent of the school is Mr. E. J. Judd, not Mr E. J. King. Shannon Sale News.—Fargher and Co.'s Sale is still booming, and the special values offered have caught on. There is going to be a busy time this week-—"Every-body's buying" sample underwear. Twenty-five per cent, oil 12 dozen towels; must go before Saturday. All remnants and trimmed millinery still further reduced for this week only.—Advt.
