The Shannon Tennis Club had a very enjoyable afternoon on ilieir eourt on Wednesday. Tlie afternoon was spent in playing oil" for Mr Murray's trophy'for juvenile players. The result was a victory for W. Cook. The scores are as follow:

The secretary of Shannon Lawn leunis Club has received an invitation from the Levin Tennis Club to arrange a date for a match at Levin. link, skipped by l'limrier, and won by 22 lo 21. IJoultbec, Venn, Knowles (of Fcathersion), and Lind (skip) represented Shannon against a rink of which Witciiell was skip, and won by 20 to 11. . Bilderbeck. E. Butt, Mitchell and Knowles (skip) played a team of which Hislop was skip, and won by 25 to 21.
WATER SUPPLY
At u meeting of the Fox ton lioroug-h Council, held last Monday, re water supply scheme, it was decided, on the motion of the mayor, seconded by Councillor Spiers, ''That this council, after careful consideration, agree that Shannon be allowed to share the <ost of head works and. main to Shannon in the ratio of one-third lo two-thirds, but that the catchment area, if afterwards required, be paid for in equal shares. The cost of upkeep and all expenses incurred afterwards to be equally shared. The IJcv. J. A. McKonzio. wilh Mr Clayton, tho superintendent of the school, were in charge oi the Presbyterians, while the Hew -T. Crawford, with Mr Vj. J. King and his assistant teacher, attended to the Methodists. Both parties had a very enjoyable time with games, sports, races, paddling in the stream, and swinging.
