Palmerston Visitors

• •-» ; AT LEVIiS 13(AVLliNG GHEEX Three rinks of bowlers from tlie Terrace End Ulub (Palmerston Xorth/ visited Levin yesterday, ; and gave tlie Levin Club a pleasant day of bowling. Tlie spokesman of tlie Terrace End bowlers remarked at tlie day's end (in returning thanks to the Levin ladies for entertainment given) that Terrace End had come to Levin to play for the Toms Ferns incidentally, but, chiefly to prospect for good fellowship. They had found it in full measure, lie was glad to say, and they would look forward with pleasure to a visit from Levin on any early date. Each rink played two games during the day, and in the evening an aggregate was worked out on all except the Toms Ferns match. The aggregate gave Levin a win by fifteen, as will be seen from the table appended. In the match for the Toms Ferns a very even game resulted for about a dozen heads. Then Terrace End secured a substantial lead iu about two heads, and Levin's fern-holders considered their trophies well gone. On the last head Terrace End were three to the good, but Grover's men got in a quartette of bowls, and won the match sensationally, scoring five in one head and winning by two points, amidst excitement. The visitors were entertained at afternoon tea, which was served by Mesdames Park and Pyke and the Misses Smith. . All in all, the day's outing was highly enjoyable, and the popularity of the game of bowls in Levin was enhanced. Following are details of the various games : — Terrace End -A. W. Sutton, W.
