Q U ARTERLY MEET IN G

The quarterly meeting of the Leviu-Otuki circuit was held in Levin yesterday afternoon. The Rev. H. Cottom presided; the Rev. F. Harris was also present, and some twenty office bearers fi'om the several places in the circuit. The reports and Sunday School work were of an encouraging nature. The balance-sheet for the quarter was considered satisfactory, in spite of many wet Sundays, and other circumstances which tended to lessen the receipts. The effort for missions for the year closing at the olst December, KJlu, showed tnat the circuit had raised for Foreign Missions i'uO lis lOd, and for Home Missions £lib Us lid. Mr G. VV . Kirk, of To Horo, was appointed circuit treasurer for tne Home and Foreign Mission I* unds respectively. The annual election of circuit stewards resulted in the re-elec-tion of Mr F. Penn, of Otaki, and in the election oi Mr J. W. bibson, of Levin. iwo lay representatives to attend the forthcoming conference, which meets at: Dunedin at the end of February were also chosen viz., Ale«sr« F. Perm and T. G. Vincent, with H. Sorrenson and Mr H. Walker as substitute representatives.

It was decided that a letter of appreciation of the good work done in the circuit by Mr W. H. Clark, who has now left the district, be forwarded to him; and a similar letter was authorised to be sent to Mr and Mrs Herd and family, who have left Levin for Hastings. It was resolved tir*diseontinue the morning services at Manakau for the present, also to allocate the income from Manakau to the Otaki division of the circuit. It was decided to hold the next quarterly meeting of the circuit at Manakau early in April. After the business was over the members of the meeting were entertained by the ladies of the Levin congregation.
