—: 4 At the School Committee meeting- lust evening--the secretary (Air A. Sims) reported that there was a balance on hand of £4 8s 4d. The expenditure totalled £20 3s (Jd and the income lis lOd. It was •'decided to carry forward the balance towards a picnic and sports gathering ijext year. Air A. Sims, of Levin, received news yesterday that his aged mother had fallen, and broken a limb in two places. Later in the day he had further bad news - -his eldest brother having died suddenly in Ha\vke's Bay. Sympathy will be felt with Mr Sims and i ; inily in their bereavement. J The death occurred this morning <>l Mrs Ivor James, widow of the late Ivor James. ilie deceased lady, who was 72 years of age, had been subject to vertigo for some time past, and had been generally ailing since the death of her husband, some seven mouths ago. On Sunday she had ji severe fall as she was leaving lier own house'to visit her soil (Mr A. James) at his house a little distance oft'. The fall caused internal injuries, from which she never recovered.
