For Railway Passengers Guidance.
THE LOCAL TIME TABLE. Safching through a railway timetable makes most people irritable. The railway table, like the polony, contains many good things, but the public prefer to have the one particular food (whether mental or alimentary) desired on a given occasion, not a botch potch Oi figures concerning the branch, line of Toko, the side track at Waggonville, or the cross line to Neverrnarch. The particular figures likely to be of benefit to dwellers between Paekakariki and Palmerston North are what readers of The Horowhenua Chronicle need most, and for oux readers' convenience those hV'ive are now appended:—
Some of tiie above trains will stop at intermediate stations, such as Tokomaru, Oliau, Manakau, Te Horo, etc.; but there .re pome which do not. Residents should acquaint themselves with the 1 rains which do stop at their parlicular stations.
As previously mentioned, there jiro several wayside stations at which one or more of the above trains will stop whenever passengers desire to be set down or taken up. Local residents may ascertain which are the trains which r:ater for their towns, and may then work out, horn the aboifa figures, the time which the traiir will take to travel from the station immediately preceding. The Auckland express reaches Palmerston from the North, ai .12.40 p.m., and arrives at Thorndon at 4.7 p.m. The Auckland express lea*ves Thorndon at 12.15 p.m. and reaches Palmerston at 3.35 p.m. The extra Auckland express commenced Ist October.
