CRICKET.
Levin cricket world or portion of it made sarcastic remarks when the Otaki team failed to put iu an appearance the other Saturday. Last Saturday the Levin team was to have met the Shannon team at Shannon, and a list of players was published in The Chronicle. When the time came for the team to start north it was mostly missing. In the meantime the Shannon players had made arrangements to hospitably entertain the visitors, ' but what they said when the Levin team failed to appeal- can be guessed by the blue appearance of the atmosphere in the direction of Shannon., it is time the Saturday players knew whether they are really going to be players or merely a nuisance to other teams. If certain of the players cannot be relied on, those willing to play for the sake of the game should join the Wednesday players, and perhaps a few matches with other centres could then be arranged. Even, on a fine Sal unlay no practice is ever indulged in, whereas Wednesday players arc always out. If the present attitude of the Saturday players is not abandoned, they might as well sell their bats and wickets for kindling wood.
