EVENTS IN SHANNON. (Chronicled by our Kesident liepresentative). The house that is being erected for Mr Christophersen in Graham street is somewhat of a novelty in the art of building. It is uesigned after the form of an Indian bungalow with widely projecting .eaves and chimneys rough east after the Indian pattern. It is fitted inside with all the latest improvements, hot and cold water laiu on in bath room and kitchen, and the best sanitary arrangements for the outhouses. The ceilings are of embossed steel and the walls papered with the most appropriate designs. It may be mentioned that the bricks are the first that have been turned out from Mr Smith's new brick kiln. The house is being built by Mr Laurvig and the painting and paperlianging done by Mr Hyde. The children of the public school are just now busily engaged in selling tickets for the school concert. As the proceeds will be devoted to the annual treat the ell'orts of the children should meet with a ready response on the part of the public. The Yen Bede's Ladies' Guild have decided to hold their bazaar early in February next. Mr and Mrs Venn have returned from their trip to the Old Country and have taken up their residence here again. They are both lookiag^well. On Wednesday next the Tennis 'Club will play for trophies presented by Mr Dunckley tind Miss Dunckley. Miss Dunckley's is for the men's handicap singles, and Mr Dunckley's for til ladies' handicap singles. The handicaps are now in flic hands of the secretary and given fine weather some good matehes should be played. Mr Caiman, of Binley, N.S.W., has returned from his holiday, -hile Mr Broderick, who was relieving him has gone to Napier.
