.Far luu many patients arc sent lo the hospital in a dying' state, says the report of the chief medical oiiieer (Dr. A. A. Martin) to ihe Hospital Hoard. "What object can be served,'* he asks, "in laking an old man of eighty, who is obviously dying, from liis own home and sending him to Tne hospital? We have had old men and old women, slowly dying from incurable maladies, sent to the hospital solely and simply because their sons and daughters will not look after them.
