Barton's Circus.
AT LEVJN -LAST NIGHT. Ii was a huge, pleased ami happy crowd that filed out of the great tent of .Barton Bros, circus last nig'ht (Thursday). Some may know a larger circus, but certainly not a better one. From the start the whole three hours' performance went without a. hitch from one high-class turn to another. In Miss Kthel Ashtou, trapezist, the circus proprietary has a first-class artist, the double revolution without releasing her hold of the bar being <|uite out of lb'. 1 ordinary. Her great strength was shown when, hanging he_.il downwards from the Irapese. she held suspended from her teeth Itil-stone Maori. Her next turn was an amusing one for the audience a stariling one for the victim. Holding linn 'high in space with her teeth, she spun him with lightning rapidity wTTh one hand. That young man is not likely to forget the experience, "llappy .lackles has a most appropriate name, and in very short time his happiness had infected every one else. The \\ alhalla Bros, are established lavourites. Their performance on the violin and their spinning and juggling of hats was very good. Alter witnessing the clevcrTricks ol the performing ponies (especially Silver King) it is easy lo understand the remark "it" that man only had a little horse sense. A unique turn was the posing ol the various groups ol living statuary. So good was the posing thai it required no stretch ol imagination io believe that the ligiires were chiselled from the marble. The whole perlorniance was closed by a buck-jumping "lurn.'" the "stars" being Queensland llarrv and "Tornado, the lanious buck-jumper.'' Both rider and horse were loudly applauded.
