[per press association.] Wellington, Nov. 9. Mr Belcher has emphatically slated that no conference has been held, and that the talk of a genoral strike of seamen was unfounded. l<'lour arriving in Wellington from Wanganui, by rail, has been stopped the pickets. At a meeting in the Opera House to-night Mr Hickey announced that all the unions in Christchurch, Dunedin and Wellington would be called out to-morrow to ioin the Auckland general strike. The telegraph lines between Wellington and Palinerston were cut last night. The general strike in Auckland lias commenced and about 5000 mei! are out.
