Walter James Hasler was arrested at Kaitoke on Friday, and was remanded to appear at Pongaroa on Tuesday next for alleged carnal knowledge of a twelve-year-old-gii'l, at Pukctoi, on Wednesday last. The accused, a young man, said lie desired to plead guilty and save the production of witnesses, but a remand was granted to enable some evidence to be taken to send oil to the Supreme Court. ROWING ACCIDENT. Auckland, This Day. William Gillettby was drowned in a creek near Whakatane through his cart capsizing and falling on top.of him.
