Levin Defence Jii/le Club held nil enjoyable field day yeslerdny, ill llieiv range on Mr Bowker's farm, Gladstone road. There was a μ-ood muster of members, and several ladies -were in attendance also. During the afternoon a special match for the ladies was fired, prizes being donated by V : ■•• captain T. Brown and liifleman J)ixon. The trophies were woi. by .Miss Grace Francis and .Mrs Percy Jones respectively, Miss Francis making , the good score of 21 out of a possible''JO. A. Dean and 0. J*. Brown, the other competitors, finished in (he order given. The men's match was at three ranges 200. ->()() and 000 yards each competitor living- seven shots at ea< h distance. The best score from (he barrel I Mas got by Kiflcean Dixon, his total being- SS. This achievement was a very good one, for the wind was choppy and (lie light, of a varying nature. The match was a handicap one, and there were prizes for high and low alike a wise provision that resulted in even the club captain securing a prize.
