GAS CHARGES.

(To the Editor.)

Sir, His Worship the Mayor denied, the other day, that the gas charges of Levin Were higher than Marton (a town of the same size). To place the matter beyond doubt, I would crave your indulgence to insert the following Marton discounts:—Price of μ-as, 12s Gel per 1000. Discounts: Lighting, 100 to 900 feet, 4d per !00; 1000 and over, 5d per 100; Heat and power (10s per 1000): 100 to 1400, M per 100 feet; 1500 and over, 4d per 100; over 10,000, 4kl per 100; over 15,000, 5d per 100; over 20,000, 5Ad per 100. Apart from their being lower, how much more equitable, how much more encouraging to light well, and to popularise the system. Yours, etc., J. W. THOMPSON.
