— —* THE LOCAL TIME TABLE. Sarcliing through a railway timetable makes most people irritable. The railway table, like the polony, contaius many good things, but the public prefer to have the one particular food (whether mental or alimentary) desired on a given occasion, not a hotch potck of figures concerning the branch line of Toko, the side track at Waggonville, or the cross line to xSevennarch. The particular figures likely to be of benefit (o dwellers between Paekakariki and Palmerston North are what readers of The Horowhenua Chronicle need most, and for our readers' convenience those figures are now appended:—

Some of the above trains will stop at intermediate stations, such :is Tokomaru, Ohau, Mmuikau, IV lloro, etc. ; but there are some which do not. Kesidents should i acquaint _ themselves with the I :■;:!-s which do stop at their particular stations.

HPhf> EH O O i-h" MO2 3En PW As previously mentioned, there are several wayside stations at which one or more of the above (rains will stop whenever passengers desire to be set down or taken up. Local residents may ascertain which are the trains which cater for their towns, and may then work out, from the above figures, the time which the train will lake to travel from the station immediately preceding. The Auckland express reaches PnJmerston from the North, at 12.40 p.m., and arrives at Thorndou at 4.7 p.m. The Auckland express leaves Thorndon at 12.15 'p.m.. and reaches Palmerston at JJ.35 p.m. The extra Auckland express commenced Ist October.
