EVENTS IN SHANNON. (Chronicled by our Resident .Representative). A very pleasing ceremony took place at the iSletliodist: Church ou Monday last. This was the wedding of Mr John Thomas AVatkins, of the Railway Department, who was united in marriage to Miss May Standen, who lias recently arrived from London. The Rev. •T. Crawford performed the ceremony. The "Rev. T. A. MeKenzie. gave away the bride, who had for bridesmaids (he two, little Misses Boultbee. Mr B. Watkrns, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. The wedding party hid breakfast at Mr E. -T. Judd's, where many expressions of good wishes for the future happiness of the newly wedded couple were given expression to. The happy couple left by train for Nftpier, just after noon. . A sad accident happened here on Monday night. A young man named -Tames Maslin, a contractor in the flax industry, was at Mr Hook's place, when he struck a match over a tin of carbide. The gas escaping, it caused an explosion, which injured Mr Maelin's face and nock. He wae taken to Mr Boultbee's, who did all he could till the arrival of Dr. Adams, who ati once ordered hit; removal to the hospital. Mr B.osb very kindly took the sufferer 4o * private hospital in Palmefreiotj North, at a late Roar.
