Channings and Bulliman, concerning flooding of their properlies in Bath sheet through the water race being unable to carry the flood waters through the cufverts provided. Afier discussion in the course of which it was said thai the source of the trouble was with the privately-owned culverts in Bath street, not with ihe council's culvert it was resolved lo accede to the desires of petitioners. The council's resolution runs: "'That regarding the complaints from residents in Bath sireet in connection with the wa-ter-race, this council is prepared to undertake the diverting of the race from its present course to file water-iablo, provided that the present owners or residents make the necessary payment for culverts op-

The advisahleness of altering , the system of rendering and collecting' gas accounts was brought up by Councillor Dempsey, who said he thought; money could be saved by allowing the gasworks officials to do (he collecting and i 1 delivery of accounts. The .Mayor remarked that such i objections as these had been taken ■> before, but the experience of the s lighting , com in it ice had proved s clearly that the present system 1 was the best. Thompson, plumber, was accepted lor the supply of sanitary buckets, at Os f)d each, without lids. Councillor Mackenzie said the Levin Cricket Club was prepared lo ■spend £2 10s of its own money on improving-the crickel pitch at Levin recreation ground, and would like to have some grant in aid of the work. The Mayor mentioned that a sum of ,t'o still was in hand as a result of the doll's name competition promoted bv Mrs Gardener last year, and the Mayor felt sure thai that sum would lie available, as it was allocated for purposes of improving , the reserve grounds. Permission to meet in the borough chambers on one night a month was granted to Levin Chamber of Commerce -during the pleasure of the council.
