Jim , AND IIL)IU.)\ViIENUA

An alter;!l ion of the boundary be! ween the lion i who it ua and Hutt counties, originally suggested by Councillor .li.ovuill, of the latter county, was .referred lo by Councillor G. A. ALonk (llorowhnnua) who waited upon the Hull. County Council yesterday. Councillor Monk announced that us the result ol the collection of evidence by his council as to the use oT the connecting roads of the two counties, their case did not stand on thy same looting as before. They found that they would not be able to submit evidence as to timber tiam'c in the respective counties to a lioyal Commission, as this was. extraordinary traflic. it was discovered thai the train'e in th i ; two counties was about equal; liorowlienua people used the Hult county roads, and vice versa, liorowlienua did not iutend to iake \lm case before a commission, but be suggested a re-adjustment, of the boundaries between the two counties. Thu boundary at present followed the Waikaimc river and Ngatiawa stream, and it was suggested that it be altered to follow the Rcikiorangi and Ngatiawa roads, which would thus become boundary roads, to be jointly maintained by the counties concerned. Councillor liowell said the thanks of the Hutt Council were due fo Councillor Monk, as the alteration should be of great advantage to the people in both counties. It was decided that Councillor Ho well be empowered to act on behalf of the Hutt County Council in negotiations with the Horowhenua County. The proposed alteration will not involve any appreciable dill'eroncc from the present size of the counties. At the outside, it is estimated that Horowhenua will lose about £500 of its present capital value.—N.Z. Times.
