Bir,~l see by your report of the last Chamber of Commerce meeting- that they want 50 acres or so of the sand drifts of the coast to be vested in the Horowhenua County Council, that they may experiment with tree planting as a preventative to the sand encroachment now taking place along this coaet. Well, sir, what I suggest is that these gentlemen pay a visit of inspection to 3lr J. R. McDonald's plantations, and see the effect it has had on the drifting sand. That would be easier than waiting for five years or so for their own trees to grow. -Yours, etc.,
