HCI MAI (14) v. LEVIN-WAN-DERERS (4). This game was played at Manakau, and was full of excitement from start to finish. The game i I self was confined mostly to tlie forwards, and at that game Hui Mai were doing well, if they could hold their own. Theiy backs won them the game: they handled ball nicely, and played safely bjM finding touch and ta'ckliug hard/j The Game. ■ Hui Mai won the toss, and de- * eided to defend the western goal, and phiy with the sun behind them. Walter AVuuata kicked off, and Kopata returned, and after an interchange of long kicks ITui Mai had Levin penned up. Martin Winiata cleared with a good kictv. The game was stopped nt this juncture to enable another player to replace li. McDonald, who had been knocked out. Play then drified down field, until the Hui Mai backs secured, and after a good passing bout among them R. George scored near the corner. "Waka's kick failed : Hui Mai 'i, Levin-Wanderers 0. Levin now made desperate efforts to v score, and until the end'of the spell were continually on the attack. The scores in the second spell tell their own story: Nepia, Winiata kicked a goal from the field, and R. Rangfield scored three tries for Hui Xlai, one of which Wnkn converted. Mr MeBain was referee. Tainui beat Shannon by LS jo 4. Details will appear in our second edition.
