Auckland, August 17. A verdict for the full amount claimed was given by the jury yesterday in the case in which Dudley Bruce Hill, sheepfarmor, of .Fern Hill, Hawke's Bay, sued the Railway Department for A'looo damages, as the reof injuries received in a collision between a motor-car and a locomotive at Kaukapakapa level crossing on the Hel-» ensville line, on January 14. Plaintiff alleged that the Department had been negligent in the upkeep of the crossing. After a retirement of two hours, the jury brought in a verdict for plaintiff, assessing th_e damages in respect of the injury at .£IOOO, jhe full amount claimed. Points of law to be argued were reserved for the Court of Appeal.
