A telegraph polo, about five milfs from Blenheim, fell down at 12.-JO o'clock this morning, :nnl cut oft' communication with the South Island by means of Cook Striiit cables. The only outlet left was the Wanganui cable. Communication, however, is now restored. WAIPA WA * AND SCIENCE. Waipawa, lliis Day. The most complete set of meteorological instruments in ilawke's Bay was installed at Waipawa High School yesterday, ill the presence of members o.f the Ed.ucation Board, and tilt' public. The instruments were imported by the Kdueation Board and paid for by the High and Technical Schools. The visitors were entertained at luncheon by the pupils of the Technical School. Complimentary speeches were delivered by Messrs 'Kirk. Morgan and McLeod, Gisborne mcmbet's of the Board.
