The ranger for Levin Borough takes exception to at least part of the complaint of a horse-owner (concerning poundage charges) that appeared in The Chronicle yesterday. The complaint said the horses were in the pound for roughly an hour, but tho ranger wishes the fact made known that sho got the horses the previous night at 9 o'clock, on the footpath in Oxford-street, and hold them in a paddock all night until the pound was opened. On Sunday next, June 22nd, an | opportunity will he given to the people of Lovin and Ohau of hearing tho Reverend Canon Garland, Organising Secretary of the Bible in State Schools League of New Zealand. He will preach in the Anglican Church (Ohau) in the morning and S. Mary's Anglican Church (Levin) on Sunday evening. If the weather he favourable there should ho largo congregations in both townships. Throughout Australasia, Canon Garland is well-known las a public speaker, and an advocate of the re-introduc-tion of the Bible into State Schools. As Canon Garland will be preaching in Ohau on Sunday morning, this will give tho Rev. H. T. Stealey the opportunity of taking ia celebration of the Holy Communion and preaching in -Levin on Sunday morning at 11 o'clock.
