Levin Domain Board
Lovin Domain Bonrd met on Friday afternoon, .Mr Peter Stewart in the chair. There also were present Messrs James Prouse. W. G. Adkin, l'\ 0. .Smith, Marco Fosella, and G. P. Brown. The chief business of the mooting was to consider the proposal to k-aso part of the reserve for grazing purposes: i.e., the 33 acres of which an existing lease will ex pire in .September next. Intimation was sent to the Minister of Lands bv tlio Domain Hoard secretary. and in reply the following letter was received: —"Referring lo vonr letter of 26th May, addressed to the 'Minister of Lands. T have to inform yon that the conditions undei which it is proposed to lease part of the Levin Domain should be submitted to this office lor approval before tlie lease is advertised I pre sunie it is the intention of the hoard to offer the land by public auction or tender.—l have, etc.. John .Strauehon. rndor-seerotarv."
After discussion, the hoard resolved (tentatively) that the eight acres at present planted in tre« and not loused be kept under those conditions still; that the balance - of 33 acres, more or less-be let on lease.
Tt was proposed by Mr Fosella and seconded hy Mr F. 0. Smith thai tenders he called for leasing the grazing rights of 33 acres (more or less) of the domain, for alternative periods of three or five years. This was agreen to, it being understood that the lease would be torniinab]< by the hoard on giving six months' notice at any time.
