EVENTS IN .\. presentutive'. (Clirouiclcd by Our ilcfidntu HOCKEY. Shannon i.s recovering lost laurels in the spoiling liehl, as the hockey game mi Wednesday afternoon showed. The weather was all that could bo desired, and tin? ground in good order. The Y.M.C'.A. Hockey Club, of Levin, captained by Mr N. HorrobJn. met in friendly contest with the .Shannon team, under the leadership of .Mr Kirkland. The game was decided on the lirst spell, as there was no scoring in the second half. It was a pretty last game throughout, and especially in the second spell. The teams were very fairly matched, the ball being now at one end of the field and then at the other. The result was a win for Shannon by three goals to one.- Messrs Hovis. Thompson and Kirkland were the scorers for the home team, and Mr Vincent was successful in obtaining a goal for the visitors. Messrs ■I udd and Perry were line-mnpires and Mr Kargher acted as referee. fjsrcr.iv
