Farmers in Conference.

At the Wellington provincial conlerei'ce of the Farmers' Union yesterday tho following remit was re ceivcl from the Levin and Eketaliuiiii branches:—"That the confer once views with pleasure the proposal ( f the Government to establish a Hard of Agriculture, and is o opinhn such bo-ird should have the assistance of local committees to ad vi.se as to matters of detail in the man igeiuetit of our State farms." Mr 11. .]. Richards moved the remit, and Mr Morris seconded. Mr Hirch said tliat he was in favour :>f the first part of the lnoVion, but could not agree with the latter portion. It was decided to adopt tho first part of the motion, regarding the establishment of an Agricultural Momd. and the latter portion of the remit was withdrawn. .Mr Fry moved :—"That a continuous Hoard of Agriculture he founded, and that its members he elected from A. and P. Societies and other sources." The first portion of the remit was carried, hut that part in relation to tho election of members was lost. Mr H. J. Richards Further moved: - -'That the conference endorse the proposal of the Secretary t for Agriculture re the disposal of stud stock (by ballot instead of auction), the price to be fixed by the department on a basis of actual cost. The remit was lost tho voices.
