KVENTS IN SHANNON (Chronicled by Our Resident dopresontative). - - - FOOTBALL.

A match of Association football was played on Saturday last, at Palmorston North, between Shannon and Poliongana. The Shannon team played a man short, and led in the first half by three goals to nil. In the second half Pohongiana scored a goal, the result being three goals to one in favour of Shannon. Seymour was the successful scorer for Shannon, which showed great improvement on previous efforts. Next ■Saturday the Shannon Association Club meet Fcilding, on Palmerston sports ground.

FOOTBALL FIXTURES. The following are the Association foot'ball fixtures (first round). Home teams are mentioned first:— May 31.—St. Andrew's v. Rangers. Pohangina v. Jackoytown, at Ashhurst. Shannon v. Fielding, at Palmerston North. June 7.—Fielding v. Pohangina.

A meeting of the Shannon Nolicense League was held in the Druids' Hall on Monday evening. It was arranged that the Rev. J. Dawson should give an address in the Druids' Hall, Shannon, on May 30th, on th» Democratic Vote Campaign.
