A very pleasant ".-oeial" .and (lalive was given in the Druids' Hall, Levin, mi Friday evening last. I y the Levin Ladies' Hockey Club. Miss I'rancis. who is shortly to be married to Mr Cyril Wilson, was the guest of the evening. Miss Francis is well-known in hockey circles as an enthusiastic and consistent player, and her popularitv was evidenced by th e number of friends who were present. Opportunity was taken during the evening to give Miss Francis a token of good will. Mrs (iardener. president of the club, made the "presentation. In her speech, she said that Miss Francis had shown an tactive and continued interest in hockey. and spoke of the good work siio had done for the club as a regular player, and latterly as an emergency help. She allied Miss Francis to accept from all the members of the (•lub a very dainty silver-mounted flower epergne. and .said that the gift was accompanied J with their hest wishes for her future happiness and welfare. Mrs Gardener's remarks Were loudly applauded. Mr Cyril "Wilson was unfortunately unable to be present, and his brother. Mr V. "Wilson, therefore replied on behalf of the recipient. He thanked the donors (or their handsome gift, and lor their kind wishes, and for the pleasant social gathering that had been convened in Miss Francis's hanour. Ilie guest was accorded musical honours and three hearty cheers. .1 he refreshments were superintended by the members oT the club, and the music for the dance w<as .supplied hv Mr Kearslpy. Tlio dance programme was nicely arranged, and Mr ''Jack" Johnson was "the right man in the right place'' as M^C. t flie conclusion of the evening the company sang Auld Tiang Syne, thus bringing to «n end a most successful and pleasant function.
