Death of a Horse.
An e(|uine who has been working hard for many years passed away in Levin this morning. Death was evidently due to heart failure, brought on by a word or two of praise—not insufficient nourishment. It happened by the Century Hall, As he was being ridden jxisf that biilding si pedestrian who was passing him said: "That is si fine horse you've got." and tho rider said it was. The horse thereupon fell down and died. It is not known whether the horse thought it was a sneer, but we take it that he looked upon the remark as honest praise. iand as he so seldom was flattered he gave up the ghost while the words were still fresh in his memory.
