. Tlif desirableness of providing a I footpath in Queen street west, bc.vond the reserve, was touchcd upon !>v Councillor'Haswell at last night': council meeting. Tt -was decided <"o ask the streets committeo to submit a report to next meeting of tlx council. The Horowhenua Lodge of Druids is holding a public installation and dance on Friday. June 6th, in the King's Theatre. A strong commit tee lias been appointed to earrv out the Arrangements. This is the first time in seventeen years that a public installation lias been held <n Levin, and doubtless the public will muster in large nu rollers to witness the procedure. The advisableness of enlarging tin culverts in tlie main streets of Levin was mentioned by Councillor Mackenzie at last night's meeting of the borough Council. The Mayor replied that provision for carrying out these necessary alterations was made in the estimates of expenditure. They were to be put in nem the Levin Post Office and at the cornei 1 of Bath street, to replace the present insufficient culverts.

A strange mistake appeared in our issue of yesterday, by which tlu. meeting to be held in the Century Hall on Wednesday evening in the interests of the Democratic Vote Campaign was credited to the Bible in Schools Party—whereas it is under the auspices of the No-Lieense Electorinl League. Tlio campaign in question has for objective tho securing oP 1000 voters in each electorate pledged not to vote for any candidate, irrespective of party. wht refuses to support a reduction of the three-fifths majority required to carry No-License. The Rev. .John Dawson is a very able speaker, and his speech in exposition of this interesting scheme in the interests of democratic Justice in this question should attract a large audience.
