THE SHOOTING SEASON. Some information concerning shooting season privileges and disabilities is set out in our leading columns to-dny, supplementary to u warning concerning the local practico of sell- , ■ ing tame mallard ducks, which m reality are "imported game," and as such protected by statute. Following are some details regarding the Wellington Acclimatisation Society's arrangements of dates for the sh ~ »t----ing of imported and local gamo within this province:— Cock pheasants, quail, and hire: may he shot by anyone holding a one-pound license from Way Ist t* July 31st, 1913. Wild duck and swan may be shot from June 2nd to June 30th without a license. Pukeko may only be shot from June 2nd to June 80tli, in a spooial area at Foxton and Shannon proclaimed for that purpose. Pukdko may not bo shot in the Wairarhpa district. Owners of land may only shoot wild duck and swan on their own pvopcrtv from June '2nd to Juno 30th. The council of the Wellington Society intends to prosecute all persons shooting native game in May or July, either on their own proportv or on that of other people.
